decisions

we've had a few roadblocks in our lives since we've been married, so you'd think we'd be used to it, right? i mean, there was the time we decided to move to the mountain to live a peaceful life and work the land, and then our house flooded on christmas day. then we lived below david's parents and ended up moving out months sooner than we expected. we lived in a cute little green house in the villas and when we decided that moving to utah was a great decision had to deal with our insane landlady writing us nasty emails.

then we made it to utah. we were excited! well, 3 semesters into byu night school they still hadn't accepted david into byu.

then we had a huge decision on our hands. stay in utah or move back to california? they both had their pros and cons but ultimately we decided to stay here where we had good jobs and we actually just got ut drivers licenses last week. david and i would go to uvu. we have been planning on moving to orem to be closer to school and even want to get a puppy.

yesterday david tells me that uvu doesn't offer a civil engineering degree which is what he wants.

great.

this morning we looked at eachother as we headed out the door for work and both said 'what should we do?' we honestly have no idea. if we stay here david will probably have to go to u of u. that means a drive to salt lake a few times a week. and possibly moving there, which would mean new jobs. this is when california starts looking good again. i am so stressed.

  1. ugh, that's so hard! I would just take it one step at a time, apply to a bunch of different schools with the program in Utah and California, then decide based on what schools David gets into. That way you can base your decision on specifics i.e. cost of living, tuition, how good the program is, etc. Good Luck and let us know if you need anything!

P.S. I forgot about your house flooding on Christmas- how crappy

  2. I would have to agree with the comment above... You should just apply to tons of schools, and then see what happens. thats how we decided to come to CO. Matt just applied to tons of jobs after Grad-school, and he had 2 offers, one in CA & one here. THen I found a job, and things just worked out. I know its so hard right now, but just take it one day at a time. I know its hard to do that but thats kind of what we are doing right now too.
Not easy times, thats for sure!

  3. I agree with the above comment, exhaust all your resources and also fast and pray ALOT.
and i think David going into Civil engineering is perfect! that's what Robert did and he works for a fantastic somewhat small but growing fast railroad engineering company in Irvine that is half-owned by a member of the church who we love and was even at our sealing!...just sayin' you'd have a good reccomendation when the time comes. :)

  6. whooo - hello the real world. stinks sometime eh? Dan and I have had our share of hard choices as well - we could write an equally crazy explanation of our married life. I say keep praying about it and move/stay where you are close to family, friends and Heavenly Father. Or just come to Oregon!! :P Really....
